WASHINGTON, D.C., July 10 – Senate health committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) released the following statement today on House passage of the 21st Century Cures Act:
“The House has worked diligently on its legislation to spur innovation and reform the Food and Drug Administration and National Institutes of Health, and I commend Chairman Upton and Representative DeGette for their commitment to this important initiative. Senator Murray and I continue our work on a parallel track in the Senate health committee to produce a bill that we can combine with 21st Century Cures and send to the president's desk—and start getting safe treatments and drugs into Americans’ medicine cabinets more quickly."
