Alexander: Study Shows Double-Digit Obamacare Premium Increases in Store for Tennesseans in 2015

Calls report “one more reason Americans need a Republican majority in the Senate to start over to repair the damage Obamacare has done”

ASHLAND CITY, Sept. 25 – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) said the recent study by PricewaterhouseCoopers showing that health insurance premiums for Tennesseans will increase by an average of 14 percent in 2015 is “one more reason Americans need a Republican majority in the Senate to start over to repair the damage Obamacare has done and prevent future damage.”

“Too many Tennesseans and Americans around the country have been hurt by the false promises that led to Obamacare becoming law—and this report is simply more evidence of damage these empty claims have caused,” said Alexander, the senior Republican on the Senate health committee. “Republicans want to fix the mess this law has caused for too many Tennesseans, who’ve not only lost their doctors and seen work hours cut, but will face even higher insurance premiums. Republicans are ready to go to work with proposals to repair the damage Obamacare has done and prevent future damage with step-by-step reforms that reduce the cost of health insurance and expand freedom and choice.”

Earlier this month, Alexander and Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) released a joint report dispelling eight major claims from the Obama administration on the president’s health care law. Among the myths uncovered was the president’s claim that Americans’ health care “premiums will go down.”
