Alexander Votes to Confirm Seema Verma to Serve as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

WASHINGTON, D.C., March. 13, 2017 - U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement on his vote to confirm Seema Verma to serve as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS):

“As the architect of Indiana’s Medicaid expansion, Seema Verma has a thorough understanding of how changing the direction of CMS will allow states to be more flexible and innovative. I look forward to working with her as Congress and the president work to move health care decisions out of Washington and back to the states.”

Alexander met with Ms. Verma on January 12, and serves as the chairman of the Senate’s health committee.
