Enzi Comments on CMS Actuary Report

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, made the following statement today in reaction to the analysis of the Democrats’ health care law from the nonpartisan experts at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS):

“This report confirms Americans' worst fears about the health care law: it will dramatically increase health spending, cut benefits for millions of seniors and jeopardize  access to care for seniors and the disabled and increase federal control over our health care system.

“Our main goal should be to bring health care costs down.  We must also protect and extend Medicare, ensure people with pre-existing conditions are able to afford care, prohibit caps on coverage and allow people who like the insurance they have now to keep it and cover more people- to name a few.  Most of these goals remain unfulfilled and this report is bad news for the taxpayers.”
