ENZI CONGRATULATES GOVERNOR SEBELIUS ON NOMINATION, EYES BIPARTISAN ACTION ON HEALTH CARE REFORM


Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Mike Enzi (R-WY), Ranking Member of the SenateHealth, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, today congratulated GovernorKathleen Sebelius (D-KS) on her nomination to serve as Secretary of Health and HumanServices, and said he looked forward to speaking with her about her vision for the Departmentand the Administration’s intentions for health care reform this year.

“We need bipartisan, fiscally responsible action this year to ensure that every Americanhas access to quality, affordable health care,” Enzi said. “The President has pledged to work onhealth care reform in a bipartisan way. I look forward to speaking with Governor Sebelius abouther plans to work with Republicans and Democrats in Congress to uphold that pledge.”

Enzi said he will carefully and thoroughly review Governor Sebelius’ nomination, as hedoes for all Cabinet appointments.

“I am eager to hear more about Governor Sebelius’ vision for the Department of Healthand Human Services, and I look forward to sharing my views with her during this importantconfirmation process,” Enzi said. “There are going to be areas where we disagree, but I hopeand expect that by focusing on solutions, we can produce meaningful results for hard workingAmericans.”
