Washington, D.C. –U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., today said that if the White Houseand Democrat leadership in the Senate choose to shut Republicans and moderateDemocrats out of the health care debate, their health care plan would fail.
“If the Democrats choose to go it alone, their health care plan will fail because theAmerican people will have no confidence in it. If we keep working together, we can get a billthat will work and will have broad support in Congress and from the American people,” saidEnzi, Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP)Committee and member of the Senate Finance Committee.
“We need to get a bill that 75 or 80 Senators can support. Unfortunately, some aredetermined to jam a bill through Congress that the American people do not want. The bill themajority leadership wants will drive up costs, deny patients access to their doctors andgenerally make health care in this country worse. This doesn't have to happen. The majoritycan choose to listen to what the American people are saying and let us take the time to get itright.”
