Health Law Anniversary No Reason to Celebrate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), Ranking Member on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, today made the following comments on the second anniversary of the passage of President Obama’s health care law:

“Two years ago, the President wanted a health care bill in the worst possible way, and that is exactly what he got and that is exactly what America got.  To call this law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is a major mistake, because it neither protects patients nor does it make health care more affordable.  Contrary to the Obama Administration’s wishful thinking, the more the American people learn about this law, the less they like it. Even after printing piles of money to pay for the new health care law, and forcing thousands of pages of new regulations on small businesses, this measure will still leave 27 million people without health insurance. It is time for real reform that puts health care decisions into the hands of American families and their doctors, not Washington bureaucrats.”
