HELP Committee Advances DOL, OSHRC, NEA, and NEH Nominees


(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, led a mark-up on nominees to the Department of Labor (DOL), the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission (OSHRC), the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Senator Murray reiterated her strong support for the nominees, and emphasized that each nominee will play a critical role in rebuilding a stronger and fairer workforce and education system that works for everyone.

 

“Workers, veterans, retirees, and families across the nation deserve fully staffed agencies committed to serving them and rebuilding a stronger, fairer economy that works for everyone. Each of these nominees has the right qualifications and experience, and I’m proud to support their nominations. I hope all of my colleagues will join me in advancing their nominations out of Committee today, and confirming them on the Senate floor,” said Senator Murray.

 

The HELP Committee advanced the nomination of Lisa Gomez to be Assistant Secretary for the Employee Benefits Security Administration at the Department of Labor by a vote of 12-10.  

 

The HELP Committee advanced the nomination of James Rodriguez to be Assistant Secretary for Veterans’ Employment and Training at the Department of Labor by a voice vote.

 

The HELP Committee advanced the nomination of Susan Harthill to be a member of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission by a voice vote.

 

The HELP Committee advanced the nomination of Dr. Maria Rosario Jackson to be Chair of the National Endowment for the Arts by a voice vote.

 

The HELP Committee advanced the nomination of Shelly Lowe to be Chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities by a voice vote.
