Burr Reiterates Call for All Eligible Americans to Get Vaccinated

Today, Senator Richard Burr (R-NC), Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, released the following statement after today’s announcement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issuing new guidance on mask wearing:

“I’m urging everyone who is eligible but who has not already done so to get vaccinated. Do it to protect your parents, your children, your community, and yourself. The COVID-19 vaccines are safe, they work, and they are the only way we’re going to bring this pandemic to an end.

“Right now, 97 percent of people hospitalized with COVID-19 are unvaccinated. The delta variant is spreading across the country, making coronavirus much more easily transmissible for those who aren’t protected. This is a race against the clock. Every American owes it to the people they love to get vaccinated now.”

Earlier today, the Senate HELP Committee held a hearing with public health officials on building on the lessons learned from the COVID-10 pandemic. At the hearing, Senator Burr again urged Americans to get vaccinated in order to combat coronavirus.
