(Washington, D.C.) – Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), top Democrat on the Senate HELP Committee, today released the following statement on the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) decision to delay oversight over certain tobacco products:
“I am concerned that by kicking the can down the road on oversight of newly deemed tobacco products, the Trump Administration has once again deprioritized public health and efforts to keep tobacco out of the hands of children,” said Senator Murray. “I’ll be closely watching to ensure FDA follows through on other parts of today’s proposal, including to address the addictiveness of cigarettes.”
