Media Advisory: Senate HELP Committee Holds Hearing to Address Shortages in Health Care Workforce


WASHINGTON – Tomorrow, February 16th,  the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) committee will hold a hearing entitled “Examining Health Care Workforce Shortages: Where Do We Go From Here?”. According to the American Hospital Association, the United States will face a shortage of up to 124,000 physicians by 2033, and will need to hire 200,000 nurses per year to meet demand. U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) committee, will introduce as a witness Dr. Leonardo Seoane, a graduate of LSU Medical School and current Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer of Ochsner Health.
