(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee Ranking Member Patty Murray (D-WA) released the following statement on the announcement from the Department of Health and Human Services that the department will shift the Medicare program toward paying providers based on value and quality of care, rather than quantity.
“Today’s announcement is an important step toward making sure our health care system works for patients and puts their needs first. My home state of Washington has consistently led the way in developing innovative delivery system reforms that improve quality and ensure patients get the right care when and where they need it. I’m pleased that as result of this new initiative, more families across the country will benefit from better care and greater savings.”
