While fighting in court to strike down health care and protections for people with pre-existing conditions, Trump Administration finalizes rule that will drive costs up and coverage down
Murray: “President Trump is putting partisan games ahead of families’ wellbeing and when people lose their coverage, see their costs go up, and struggle to get the care they need, they are not going to forget his role in sabotaging their health care.”
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, released the following statement in response the Trump Administration’s finalization of the annual Notice of Benefit and Payment Parameters for the 2020 health insurance marketplace—including changes that the nonpartisan Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Office of the Actuary confirmed would lead to higher costs and less coverage for families across the country.
“President Trump is attacking people’s health care from all sides. Even as he fights in court to strike down protections for people with pre-existing conditions and health care for families across the country, he is also finalizing what amounts to a health care tax that will drive up premiums and drive down coverage. President Trump is putting partisan games ahead of families’ wellbeing and when people lose their coverage, see their costs go up, and struggle to get the care they need, they are not going to forget his role in sabotaging their health care.”
