Murray Statement on Collins-Cassidy Proposal to Repeal the Affordable Care Act

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, released the following statement on the Collins-Cassidy proposal to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

“I am glad that some of my Republican colleagues are hearing loud and clear from the overwhelming majority of Americans who do not want to have their lives upended by Republican plans to dismantle our health care system. But I want to be very clear: the proposal today is yet another harmful path toward taking coverage away from millions of people, especially children, seniors, and all those who rely on Medicaid, and would result in working families paying more for health care, while giving the wealthy a big tax cut.”

“As I’ve said many times, if Republicans are truly serious about helping women, families, and seniors get quality, affordable care, they will stop rushing to dismantle our health care system, and allow us to work together on real improvements that need to be made. But first, Republicans have to show they are willing to put families ahead of politics.”
