Report by non-partisan CBO, Joint Committee on Tax confirms: Silver-plan premiums would increase by 20-25% if Trump stops CSR payments
(Washington, D.C.) – Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Ranking Member of the Senate HELP Committee, today released the following statement on the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and Joint Committee on Taxation’s new report about the effects of President Trump’s threats to stop cost-sharing reductions that help keep costs lower for families.
“It is clear that if President Trump follows through on his threats to undermine the health care market, he will be fully responsible for dramatically raising premiums and reducing coverage options for families across the country next year,” said Ranking Member Murray. “Democrats and Republicans in Congress have an opportunity to work together in September to prevent families from paying more for health care because of the uncertainty this administration has caused. I hope we can do so quickly and then continue working in a bipartisan way to make health care more affordable, accessible, and higher quality for all.”
