(Washington, D.C.) – Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), top Democrat on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, today issued the following statement on reports the Trump Administration will ask a federal court for another 90-day delay for the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) cost-sharing program, which reimburses health insurers to help low-income people make co-payments at the doctor or hospital.
“It is disturbing to say the least to watch the President of the United States play political games with our health care system, raising premiums and risking people losing coverage. The Administration should stop putting their partisan political agenda ahead of families and take action now to end the uncertainty his reckless policies are causing in our health care system, instead of leaving people wondering what destabilizing step he might take next and what that means for their health care costs.”
