Murray Statement on Supreme Court Arguments in Case Threatening to Undermine Workers’ Rights
U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Janus v. AFSCME.

Murray: “I will keep fighting alongside [unions] to help workers, families, and the economy”
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee released the following statement today regarding the United States Supreme Court hearing oral arguments on the case Janus v. AFSCME Council 31. In this case, big businesses and corporate special interests are continuing their attack on workers’ right to unionize, speak up together, and negotiate collectively for better pay and working conditions.
“Unions give workers a voice, raise wages for all workers, create safer working conditions, and protect benefits for workers. In the 20th century, unions helped create the middle class and today unions still help lift millions out of poverty. But unfortunately, big corporations and special interests are continuing their attack on unions and working families by making it harder for workers to join unions and exercise their right to collective bargaining. Unions are essential to helping working families get ahead, and I will keep fighting alongside them to help workers, families, and the economy.”
