WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, released a statement following the U.S. Senate voting against the re-nomination of current National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Chair Lauren McFerran, an extreme Biden-Harris nominee who has orchestrated NLRB’s weaponization against American workers. With three weeks left of a Senate Democrat majority, this was a clear attempt to deny President Trump the opportunity to choose his own nominee.
“This NLRB seat should be filled by President Trump and the new incoming Senate. Not a historically unpopular president and a Senate Democrat Majority that has lost its mandate to govern,” said Dr. Cassidy. “I am glad the Senate rejected Democrats’ partisan attempt to deny President Trump the opportunity to choose his own nominees and enact a pro-America, pro-worker agenda with the mandate he has from the American people.”
Under McFerran’s leadership, the NLRB weaponized its authority on behalf of Democrats’ union boss supporters at the expense of workers. In August, Cassidy criticized HELP Committee Chair Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) decision to hold an off-the-floor Committee vote on McFerran with no public hearing. HELP Democrat leadership previously denied a request from Cassidy and other HELP Republicans to hold a hearing on her nomination.
