Ranking Member Cassidy on Supreme Court Decision in EMTALA Case

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, released a statement following the Supreme Court’s decision in Moyle v. United States:

“EMTALA was clearly intended to protect both pregnant women and their unborn children. Every state in the country allows for doctors to treat a woman experiencing an ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, or other life-threatening condition. That is called health care, not an abortion. Yet, the Biden administration continues to fearmonger for election year politics,” said Dr. Cassidy. “While this issue will continue to work its way through the courts, I will continue to speak out against Democrats’ false narrative and to support efforts to protect and respect the life and dignity of the unborn.”
