WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, released a statement following his vote to oppose Democrats’ latest political show vote on in-vitro fertilization (IVF) designed to misinform and scare voters ahead of the November election.
“Despite Democrats’ efforts to manufacture a campaign issue months before the election, access to IVF is not under threat. If we want to have a comprehensive conversation about IVF, we can do that, but forcing a vote on legislation that has already failed in the Senate is a bad faith attempt to mislead Americans,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Democrats’ continued fear-mongering on IVF is a disservice to all families who may pursue IVF treatments.”
In June, Cassidy joined the entire Senate Republican Conference in support of access to IVF. Cassidy also delivered a floor speech earlier this year criticizing Democrats’ ploy to misinform voters about IVF.
