Ranking Member Cassidy, Scott, Bennet, Colleagues Celebrate National Charter School Week

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, Tim Scott (R-SC), Michael Bennet (D-CO), and 19 colleagues introduced a resolution to celebrate National Charter School Week and recognize charter schools’ contributions to the academic landscape.

“Parents should have every option available to send their child to the school that best fits their needs. Charter schools provide that opportunity,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This resolution celebrates the work of charter schools in helping students succeed in the classroom and beyond.”

“With a background like I had growing up, I came to understand the power of a quality education. Throughout my time in public service, I have worked to broaden educational opportunities for children, regardless of race, zip code, or background,” said Senator Scott. “I am grateful for the positive strides charter schools have made to shape education in South Carolina and around the nation, and help the next generation achieve their American Dream!”

“In Colorado and across the country, public charter schools help ensure every student has access to high-quality education to prepare them for future success. National Charter Schools Week is an opportunity to recognize educators and school leaders for their outstanding work and dedication to their students and communities,” said Senator Bennet

They are joined by U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Jim Risch (R-ID), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), John Hickenlooper (D-CO), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Tom Carper (D-DE), John Cornyn (R-TX), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Katie Britt (R-AL), Cory Booker (D-NJ), and Mike Braun (R-IN).
