REID, KENNEDY, SALAZAR, RELIGIOUS LEADERS URGE PRESIDENT BUSH NOT TO VETO CHIP


WASHINGTON, DC— Tomorrow, at 11:45am, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid,Senator Edward M. Kennedy, and Senator Ken Salazar will join with religious leaders Fr.Clarence Williams of Catholic Charities USA, Sister Catherine Pinkerton, CSJ,Network—National Catholic Social Justice Lobby, and Rabi Michael Namath of theReligious Action Center of Reform Judaism in support of the Children’s Health InsuranceProgram. With more than 9 million uninsured children in America, this bill will make qualityhealth care available to those who need it most— something the Administration hasfailed to do. Despite bipartisan support for this bill in both the United States Senate andHouse of Representatives, the President has threatened to veto this important measure.
